Old Settler's Day in Floyd County, Texas

is always popular! |
Each
spring, people from across Floyd County gather around the courthouse
square in downtown Floydada to celebrate the annual Old Settler's
Day.
After naming the oldest man and oldest woman living in the county and
enjoying a meal of great barbecue
brisket, all gather to view the big parade around the square. |
The parade
features everything from riding clubs and floats from local organizations
to the newest in farm machinery and antique tractors. For a small
town, the parade is usually quite large and lasts about 45 minutes
to an hour.
