> Our hometown: Floydada, Texas
It's not a tornado, although we have them here, it's a whirlwind (a.k.a. dust devil). The whirlwind is the official mascot of Floydada High School.
The Floydada Whirlwinds and our neighbors just up the road in Lockney, whose mascot is the Longhorn, make up Floyd County in the Texas Panhandle.
In the heart of cotton and cattle country, Floydada is small town Texas at its best and is the home of
TexasInaBox.Com.
With a population just under 4200, Floydada (click here to learn how it got it's name) is a friendly town located about an hour Northeast of Lubbock, Texas and is surrounding by table-top flat, rich farmland where cotton, corn, grain sorghum, and wheat is produced.
Oh yeah, Floydada is also the Show Pumpkin Capital of the USA! Many thousands of pounds of pumpkins are produced in Floyd County. Floydada hosts its Pumpkin Days celebration in October of each year.

California Street
Just a look down California Street, where TexasInaBox.Com is based, gives you a good idea of the small-town feel of Floydada. Click on the picture and you'll see a larger version showing you our neighbors - the marquee of the old Palace Theater is easy to spot. You may also notice that the streets are brick - no potholes here!
We invite you to sample the flavor of life in Floydada by browsing through the photos we've posted in the sections listed below. Then, we invite you to taste the flavor of our great foods by ordering from TexasInaBox.Com!

You can keep up with all the small town news in Floydada, Lockney and surrounding Floyd County communities by reading the weekly Floyd County Hesperian-Beacon on-line.
